It is the responsibility of the individual home school’s administration and coach to decide on an athletic event cancellation. The opposing coach and administration should be notified of a cancellation or postponement as soon as possible, preferably prior to 1:15 PM, to enable notification of teams before departure. A postponed event should be made-up on the first feasible school day after the postponement. If the postponement is following a holiday or snow day, the makeup game should only be played if both teams and school administration agree. Makeup game may not be played on a Saturday without prior approval of the administration. The coach and the Student Activities Coordinator will cooperate in the notification of the postponement and of the new game date and time to officials, support personnel, and other sources.
Regular Season And Tournament Game Time Rule – No athletic event held during regular season or tournament play may begin on a school night after 9:00 p.m. and after 9:30 p.m. on a weekend. No contest may continue after 11:00 p.m. on a school night or 11:30 p.m. on a weekend. Games in progress at this time must be suspended at the next official break (end of an inning, end of OT). Individual sport rules would determine if a game would end in a tie or would be resumed on the next available date.
Inclement Weather Wait Time Rule – In cases where a contest is suspended due to inclement weather, the home team’s athletic administrator on duty should hold a conference with both coaches and the head game official to develop a plan for the resumption of play. If conditions prevent play from being resumed before the end of a wait of 90 consecutive minutes or the start times listed in the Game Time Rule, the contest will not be resumed that day and the Interrupted Game Rule will apply. The contest could be ended early if during the suspension of play, both coaches, along with the game officials, all agree to end the contest. (Revised-08/2105 )
