Double Sens

The project with Double Sens (DS) started in mid-2015 after a visit from DS founder, Aurellien Sieux and their local coordinator, Emmanuelle Gunaratne (Peddlar's Trails). DS is a French company that specializes in "solidarity tourism" and operates in several countries in Africa and Asia. The program in Sri Lanka started with a focus on environmental themes. The groups come regularly once a month and stay at Belipola for 6 nights. While at Belipola they engage in a "mission" which is designed from Belipola. The mission should be achievable within the time frame and by the number of people coming, and it should have a direct environmental or social impact. In 2015 missions included home garden planting, pond restoration at Belipola and waste management system for local school. Other ideas are presented in the documents attached.

Belipola creates the missions and budget and submits and invoice in advance to Emmanuelle. After funds are transfered an acknowledgement is sent via email and a receipt is generated and sent back. Any changes in budget amounts must be communicated at least three (3) months in advance, as per the request of Emmanuelle.

All documents regarding double missions and finance can be found here.
