Planning & Organising

With the funding and support from the IAFN and Both Ends, we have aimed to set Belipola up, in 3 focal areas:

    1. Analog Forestry demonstration, research and instruction site.

    2. Ecotourism business and education program.

    3. Sustainability living and learning center - experiential learning for sustainable futures (volunteers, interns, guests)

Activities that relate to these 3 focal areas can be found in the sub-page Goal Setting 2013.

Belipola as the Asia Regional Training Center for Analog Forestry

The Analog Forestry training center at Belipola will be IAFN’s Asia training center. The center will develop the capacity of Sri Lankan practitioners and trainers, and reach out to others in the Asain region. Considering Belipola’s history and origins, it is the logical place to develop a training center with a mandate to train and demonstrate on a regional scale. From Belipola, we aim to build a regional network with a strong focus on capacity building for both trainers and practitioners of Analog Forestry. The goal is to learn and share alongside others in the region who practice this method of forestry, farming and restoration.
