We will not be opening up the McClanahan House during the summer. We only have one working Air Conditioner downstairs, it was moved down from upstairs during the 2021 December's Christmas Tree forest event. Yes, it was warm in December. We've written a grant hoping to get enough funds for mini-splits, but we will not know until September 2022, cross your fingers that we get some funding. We do have funds for repairs, but not enough for the mini-splits. Always something with an old wood frame treasure.
If anyone would like to see it, let us know in advance, at least a few days before, so we can plan on a morning visit when it's cooler. Best on weekends when we "might" have a volunteer available to help. This also gives the sole air conditioner time to cool the house a bit too. Also, the air conditioner is the same age as the one that died in December, so it may not last much longer. It was bought in 1986 from what we can see in our books. That's old. We are surprise they have lasted this long. Blessings and keep cool out there. Texas is almost finished pre-heating and the Summer is gonna be hotter.
