In 2014 we conducted research looing at efficacy of PPIs vs Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication in reduction of reflux symptoms.
This was revised with a larger cohort of 200 respondees in 2017 to produce this paper, "Prevalence of Extra-Oesophageal Reflux symptoms amongst acid refluxers and perceived efficacy of regular medication and reflux reduction intervention," with the main conclusion that PPIs do not reduce reflux.
"Medication" refers to PPIs; "Intervention refers to Fundoplication.
We are looking to revise this study further by comparing other reflux reduction techniques and are looking for anyone who has had LINX or Reflux Stop procedures to compare their efficacy.
Ideally we'd like to find 50 recipients of each procedure to make results comparable to the Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication results already received, but a minimum of 20 may be sufficient.
If you have received eaiter of these treatments, please take just two minutes to complete the relevant questionnaire. It is totally anonymous and confidential. There are no follow up emails and your identity is totally unknown eeven to us.

Barrett's Wessex charity previously maintained an archive of links to all relevant research into matters surrounding Acid Reflux and Barrett's Oesophagus since 2012.
Accessible below are links to abstracts of selected articles from 2023 onwards chosen for accessibility to users of this site and relevance to articles in Down With Acid.
Previous archives from over 11 years of links, occupying nearly 700 pages, can be viewed, downloaded or searched below.
It is too large to view entirely in the preview window so you will have to use the pop out button.
N.B. Entries listed in reverse chronological order of publication date with the most recent first. Please let us know if there's any important piece of research that we've missed.
Because it is getting rather large, we may decide to cull older links and make them available as an historical archive of the archive.
As from June 2024, the research archive will not be routinely updated.
Occassional additions listing particularly pertinent research will be added.
For recent research, we recommend searching PubMed.
