Over the past 10 years, AnthroTronix has developed a robot called CosmoBot that interacts with children with and without disabilities to promote educational and therapeutic activities. The current version, CosmoBot V3, is at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and being used in physical therapy with children with disabilities through a NIH funded project. CosmoBot has been tested with children with a range of abilities including children with autism, Downs Syndrome, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, apraxia, neurodevelopmental disorders, language developmental disorders and who are typically developing. Recently, AnthroTronix completed a Phase I SBIR and developed a social skills package for CosmoBot for children with ASD. Funders have included: National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and Department of Education. The goal is to develop a commercially available CosmoBot that can be used in educational and rehabilitation environments.
CosmoBot was at ISTE/NECC last year! See video here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVXf4hiW3OY
