Please view the following game video to get a sense of what the program is all abouthttp://www.sst-institute.net/download_trailer.php Here is a program description that Professor Tony Attwood has included on his website: The Secret Agent Society is an amazing new social skills program for 8 to 12 year-old children with High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders. The program features a computer game with human and animated characters, interactive activities and home missions that teach children how to recognise and control their emotions and cope with social challenges (e.g. talking and playing with others, coping with bullying). The computer game was created by Disney-skilled animators and was a finalist for the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association Educational Game of the Year Award. The game is complimented by a range of other fun activities that help children generalise their social skills to real life. These include a role-play based board game, foam darts game, walkie-talkie game and card games. Visual supports include colourful posters, stickers and portable ‘code cards’ that help children apply their new skills in everyday situations. Full-colour resources are also available for children’s parents, classroom teachers and other treating professionals.
A randomized controlled trial has shown that children who participated in the program showed greater improvements in social skills and emotional control than children who received treatment as usual for the two month intervention period. Children’s social skills improved both at home and at school, with 76% of children improving from having clinically significant delays in social functioning to showing social skills within the range of typically developing children. Improvements were also maintained five months after the program ended.
I think this is an excellent program and strongly recommend it to parents and professionals who are supporting children with High-Functioning Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome.
