Canoes

Canoes and Reflections

Description:

This photograph was the result of many pictures I took around the Broad Canal Way near Kendall Square on a sunny day under rather harsh lights. Using a rather long focal length of 55mm (with an APS-C crop sensor that gives a 35mm equivalent of 77.5mm if my arithmetic is correct) helped me to get closer to the boats. I used out-of-camera JPEG taken most likely with Fujifilm VELVIA simulation to make this photograph.

Many people who have seen this photograph thought at first sight that this was a drawing. I believe this is mainly due to the way the reflections came out to be. My post-processing settings don’t indicate anything out of ordinary such as pushing the clarity variable to the limit. Serendipity of the conditions, nothing else.
