Detect and Recover from Error Conditions
Catalyst switches can detect error conditions automatically on every switch port for every possible cause. Switch ports can be automatically disabled in case of serious error condition and enabled either manually using no shutdown command, or automatically enabled after a predetermined time has elapsed.
If an error condition is detected, the switch port is put into errdisable state and is disabled. This is done using following global configuration command-
