History:
Glasmala was founded by half-elves seeking a place for themselves in the world. Since neither elves or humans fully accepted them. They stumbled up this land with a massive forest and rolling hills. They explored it until the found a delta and proceeded to set up a city there. This city became known as Baywynne. They found ways to work the land and live off of it.
Then war came as orcs attacked the settlement repeatedly. Several half-orcs were born and were raised in the settlement. This led to the half-elves and their allies despairing of ever having peace.
Finally one day a man rose and left the village. He was a known pacifist and refused to fight on many occasions. None had seen him fight the orcs to defend the town and so many mocked him. On his journey he meditated on the best way to end the problem. Finally Hanzil and Subira revealed a way to do it.
He walked in the orcish camp and was shocked at how run down it was. The leader stormed up along with his guards. They promptly attacked and he promptly defeated them. Then he sat in the middle of the village and fell into his meditative pose. As days passed he calmly suggested ways to improve the orc village. Slowly they improved their village and then he persuaded them to use trade to get what they needed from his home.
From this start came the beginnings of an alliance that would form the backbone of Glasmala. The monk, for that is what he was, was selected to be the first king. From here the laws of tolerance and aiding others began. Also the tendency of any warriors trained her to assess whether battle must be engaged or if diplomacy would work best.
Government:
This is a monarchy and as such the next leader is always selected by the current one. The selected child does not have to have been born in wedlock. Generally the advisers are selected by the ruler, but all generally hold the same values due to the system in place here. This is a place where all are taught basic education and then allowed to choose what to do.
This allows the people at large to make their voice heard and their opinions known. Every 4 months the ruler holds open court so they may learn the concerns of everyone they can. This court lasts for one week and many are satisfied by the ability to address the ruler with their concerns.
Places of Interest:
Dorgate: The capital of Glasmala and home to many fine wonders. Most of the wonders here are of the artistic and scholarly bent. The city is a jewel of architecture and superbly laid out to allow people to get where they need to be. Inns and taverns are mixed in throughout each area so people may be closer to what they are visiting. Sadly the layout also made it vulnerable to take over. Its walls were no barrier to the relentless undead hordes.
Shadowmist: This city sprang up from a love of learning. It is unique in that it offers classes in just about every area. They produce many fine scholars, craftsmen, and just about everything. Due to the high learning and the cost of learning only the finest are offered scholarships . The scholarships are only offered to those who could not otherwise afford the cost of the school. All tuition costs include boarding.
Crystalmist: A massive monastery with a chapel to every good or neutrally aligned deity. Here many are able to send their more martially inclined members to be trained. The monastery also stands as a keep for the town around it. Due to Glasmala's influence the monastery produces very well educated divine casters.Â
