INGREDIENTS
2 squares baking chocolate
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup mlk
1/3 cup karo (corn syrup)
2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
1 cup chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
DIRECTIONS
Butter 9x9" square pan. Set aside, Melt chocolate over very low heat. Add sugar, milk, Karo, and butter. Cook to soft ball stage (235 degrees on candy thermometer). Remove from heat and beat about 10 mins til thickened and creamy. (It will hold its shape momentarily when dropped from a spoon back into pan. WIll also lose its glossy look and have a dull look on top). Quickly stir in nuts and vanilla and pour into prepared pan. Let cool til partially set then cut into squares. When completely cold, cut again. Wrap each square in Saran or foil, if giving for a gift. Store at room temp. MAKES 36 squares. Per Square: 77 calories
