Ken Cox - 14th January 2015

Post date: Dec 29, 2014 11:41:9 AM

Our next talk is from Ken Cox on 14th January, at 7:30pm in the Masonic Hall.

Ken Cox is the proprietor of Glendoick garden centre and a third generation plant hunter: he and his father and grandfather before him have brought back many hundreds of species of plants, specialising rhododendrons and azeleas, from their plant hunting expeditions all over the world. Ken has written and co-written over twenty books on various gardening and plant hunting subjects, and will be basing this talk around his latest book, "Scotland for Gardeners". The book is a kind of tourist guide for gardeners, with details of the gardens, nurseries and garden centres all across Scotland. It sounds like a good book to have in the car on any trip and I believe there will be opportunity to buy copies after the talk.

We are really lucky to have Ken coming to talk to us - it is something that both the original and the new Abernethy Horticultural societies have been hoping for over several years, and we have Jane Sanderson, AHS committee members and plant propagator at Glendoick, to thank for arranging this one. Ken's lectures usually cost £20+ to attend, so this will be a great opportunity to hear him speak for considerably less! Please do let any friends, colleagues and relatives who may be interested know about the talk, and bring them along (£2.50 on the door for non-members). The talk poster (see below) is also attached in PDF format - please feel free to put this up on any noticeboards that you have access to.
