Ok Folks
Our first planting day is nearly upon us and I'm looking for Volunteers to help! Mostly on Sunday the 10th Nov doing some clearing in the the Den (the start of the circular walk opposite Nurse Peatties) at 10 am, bring Strimmers, scythes, rakes, etc. I also suggest thick trousers, and gloves as there is a bit of stinging nettle about (hopefully past its mid-summer fury by now, but still...).
The planting itself will be taking place on Monday the 11th Nov at 9.30 am, and the School is going to provide a class of Kids to do the planting. A Woodland Trust Officer is going to run the session for us, bring child friendly spades & provide some hats for the kids to take away.
On the Monday morning, we will need folk to help us shift the plants, canes & rabbit proofing up to the Den, wheel barrows will be the order of the day here (a few spare spades wouldn't go a miss either). Then it will just be a case of helping out where necessary & joining in the fun.
We may also have 15-30 Blackthorn saplings to plant up at the Loanhead Quarry- which I'm aiming to do either Sunday afternoon or after the session in the Den on Monday- anyone who can help will be most welcome!
If you can help with any of this, please get in touch by emailing abernethyhorticultural@gmail.com
