This year’s visit on June 14 was to the private garden at Teasses in Fife. Despite overcast skies the afternoon was a fascinating walk guided by the Head Gardener through gorgeous woodland, swirling herbaceous borders, wildflowers, river ravine and green amphitheater, lily ponds, roses and ending at the splendid kitchen garden. We had a real glimpse into the life of a full-time estate gardener; of his battles with deer and how to work on a grand-scale to the plans and ideas of a well-known landscape designer and satisfy the definite likes and dislikes of estate owners.
The afternoon ended with a lovely tea at Hatters in the nearby Fife Folk Museum at Ceres.
