War ended on the day we were being sent to the front lines. Instead of 'doing battle', we rounded up German prisoners of war.

Slept in barracks type public buildings and/or tents. Showered in community-type facilities. Meals were typical GI mass-produced items - substantial but no 'frills'. We didn't have much entertainment except an occasional movie.
