During the period 11 May 45 to 31 May 45 inclusive, the Battalion was assigned mission of occupation and security of area Kreis Detmold, Land Lippe and control and segregation of D.P. and PW's Camps in assigned area. Approximately 500 displaced persons, 171 enemy prisoners of war and 3000 allied prisoners of war were received in camps in the area and approximately 500 displaced persons, 171 enemy prisoners of war and 4000 allied prisoners of war were shipped out of the Battalion area during the period ending 31 May 1945 at which time the British assumed control of the area.
The unit remained in Kreis Detmold to await orders from higher headquarters. On 5 June 1945 the Battalion, pursuant to order from XVI Corps; moved to Neuhof (Kreis Fulda) and was assigned mission of occupation and security of area in Kreis Fulda, and members of the Battalion not used in the security of the area followed a training schedule.
Beginning 043021 to 043023 July 1945 inclusive the Battalion conducted a security check and search operation of Battalion area. This was known as Operation Tally-Ho.
Results of Operation:
Approximately 23,000 German civilians were checked for proper identification documents and all buildings in area were checked for contraband.
