Dear all
I am writing to share details of some leadership and organisational changes coming to EFM and Accommodation and Commercial Services (ACS).
As you may be aware, Caryn Masters, Director of ACS, has been accepted in the Voluntary Severance Scheme (VSS), and will leave the University on 28 February 2025.
From 1 March 2025, ACS and Unicus will move under my leadership, and I will be working with the senior leadership from all departments to build alignment between us, and seek to establish new working arrangements which reflect our unified service.
There are no immediate plans to carry out any significant reorganising of ACS or EFM teams. The only changes initially will be around reporting lines, with staff who reported directly to Caryn transitioning over to myself.
I know this may be a worrying time, as any period of significant change in an organisation can be. I want to reassure you that I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition to continue delivering the excellent services we currently do. I will also be working closely with all members of leadership to identify areas with significant impacts on workload and ways of working, to identify means of mitigating these.
I would also ask you to be welcoming and supportive of colleagues within ACS who will be joining us, as they have recently gone through VSS and will be reshaping how they work within their teams.
If you have worries and concerns, please share these either with your line manager or with myself. I will be back in contact in the coming weeks, as more details about our transition are confirmed.
Best wishes,
Linda Goodacre

He has undertaken his latest role as Regional FM Director with T Clarke, a regional FM provider for the last 8 years, originally joining the firm as a Contract Engineer in 2002. In his role as Regional FM Director, Bob was responsible for managing multiple FM teams across the region focusing service delivery, developing the strategic planning of Hard & Soft FM services, infrastructure, business-critical systems & recovery plans.
Bob will start with us on Monday 2 September and I know that you will join me in welcoming him to the team.

As you know we will be saying goodbye to Chris Garlick and Matt Godber on Friday 1 March. We are still in the early stages of recruiting their replacements. In the interim, I have agreed the following arrangements with the remaining members of the executive team.
The Engineering & Maintenance will be led day to day by Grahame Sheppard with support from Andrea King, Andrew Massey, Doug Brooke but all 4 will report to the Director of EFM from a line management perspective.
From a line management and day to day HR management point of view, the PBS teams will move either under Jacqui or Mark. The breakdown will be as follows:
Jacqui Tuffnell - Performance Venues, Print & Creative Services, Land & Property Team, Survey Team, Admin and Technical Team.
Mark Holden - Space Management and Asbestos Management Team.
Where there are any technical issues within the PBS team that need to be escalated or direction given that will be through the Director of EFM. Mark and Jacqui will provide further direction to their areas on general admin arrangements.
Safe Systems of Work, Legal Compliance - The executive team have undertaken an initial review of all our areas of compliance which were undertaken by Matt and Chris; we believe that there are appropriate controls in place to discharge our obligations. We will be making formal amendments to our IMS system to recognise these changes shortly. Any changes will be communicated to those affected.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to David for his leadership of Estates and Facilities Management during this interim period. David's last day is expected to be 22 March 2024.

Dear All
You should all have now received notification that a permanent Director of Estates and Facilities Management is in the process of being appointed. Once that has been finalised, I will work with the individual to ensure a smooth handover and transition.
I recognise there is a lot of change in the senior management team at the moment and I will be working with the team to mitigate any impact on the delivery of our services.
I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude for welcoming me into your team and making my time extremely enjoyable and professionally satisfying in the short time I have been here.
We will release more details on the transition as they are finalised.
Yours
David

Interim Director of Estates and Facilities Management
A warm welcome to Jacqui Tuffnell, Assistant Director of Campus Services who started with us this week (4 Dec). Introductory meetings are being arranged and Richard Yates is working closely with Jacqui during December and January to ensure a comprehensive handover. Jacqui joins the team from the NHS and has worked in a variety of different hospitals in similar roles and also has human resources and contracting experience.
I’m sure you will all join me in congratulating Chris Garlick, Head of Property and Business Services who will be leaving us in the Spring to take up the position of Director of Estates and Campus Services at Keele University. Chris has worked with the University for 13 years and he’s been a great support to me since I joined in September. Chris will leave a legacy of achievements but principally a fantastic group of staff who provide vital functions to the wider University. I will advise on the arrangements for covering Chris’s responsibilities going forward in the next few weeks. I’m sure leaving drinks will also be planned for in due course.
