FREE COLLEGE MEALS
WHAT IS IT?
If you're eligible, The Sheffield College will give you free meals for the days you’re in college.
You'll receive £4.50 per day to spend in the college refectories. This can be used any time the refectory is open
The £4.50 is loaded onto your ID card. If you spend more, you can pay the difference.
The £4.50 is the only available on timetabled days.
The allowance is non-transferable and cannot be carried over to another day.
WHO CAN GET FREE MEALS?
You can apply if:
You are aged 16–18 on 31st August 2024
(If you turn 19 during your course, you stay eligible until the end of that year)
OR
You are aged 19–24 and have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
BENEFIT ELIGIBILITY
You (or your parent/guardian) must receive one of these benefits:
Income Support
Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
The Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit
Support under the Immigration and Asylum Act (Part VI)
Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit) with income below £16,190
Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after support ends)
Universal Credit with net earnings under £7,400 per year
