It has been an exceptionally busy module for our students, with a range of educational visits, successful sporting events, and in school activities challenging and engaging them creatively. Year 9 have to started to plan and organise their MYP Community Projects, with a group of Mandela students planning to organise a disco for our Year 7 students.
It has been great to see how they have continued to flourish and embrace the opportunities on offer to them. The League of Excellence winners for Modules 2 and 3 are listed below.
Module 2
Module 3
Student Achievements Beyond the Classroom
Our Mandela students continue to excel in a range of activities beyond the classroom. We'd like to particularly mention the Year 10 students, who took part in the "Made in Bluewater" competition. Aneesa, Adelaide, Eloise, Kevin and Darcey. They worked exceptionally hard in this year's regional final. Well done to you all!
This module we also wanted to highlight the achievements of Samuel in Year 9. Samuel is an outstanding athlete, focusing on middle distance running. The last few months have been very successful at both county and national level for Samuel, winning a bronze medal in January at the Kent Schools Cross Championships. This gave him the opportunity to compete in the English Schools Cross-Country championships, at Ardingly in West Sussex. This is a tough course. Here, Samuel competed against the best in his age group, from across the country and finished 129th out of 334 finishers, and the 4th boy home for Kent. Samuel has also had to opportunity to compete for Kent at the National Intercounties Cross Country Championships, that took place at Woolaton Park in Nottingham in March. Another tough race, but Samuel again managed to achieve scoring points for Kent. We are looking forward to hearing about Samuel's peformances in the summer, as the track season begins.
