General Information
Each year and for each grade level, Selwyn hosts annual student trips through our Perspectives Travel Program, an integral part of our curriculum from Lower School to graduation. This is a cherished tradition at our school, dating nearly all of our 60-plus year history. It provides students with unique, hands-on experiences designed to help them develop a sense of personal responsibility and self-reliance. Interpersonal relationships between the students are enhanced as they learn how to problem solve and work together while braving new adventures outside of their usual comfort zones. Every successive year the length of the Selwyn travel program trips increase, as do the students’ responsibilities for planning and implementing their travels.
5th and 6th Grade
Camp Allen Fall 2025
Camp Allen Fall 2023
5th and 6th graders will attend either Camp Allen, Camp Olympia or Camp Cullen. All 3 camps have excellent outdoor education programs with a focus on science skills. Students will spend four days, and three nights at camp. Activities may include hiking, fishing, archery, horseback riding and so much more.
The camp prepares outdoor education classes for them to participate in while they complete a workbook that aligns closely to our curriculum. Chaperones will be present the entire time. Meals are provided by the camp. Dietary restrictions can be met as long as we know ahead of time and can work with the camp. Any students who do not attend will be required to work from home that week.
This year, 5th and 6th graders will attend Camp Allen the week of October 20th. See the link below for the information packet that will be sent home.
Camp Cullen Spring 2025
7th and 8th Grade
7th and 8th graders go on a 5 day / 4 night trip to a location that highlights the science and history related to their studies.
This year, we will return to Hot Springs, Arkansas on February 23-27, 2026.
