Duncan McNab built this house in 1861. It was part of an 80-acre land grant. The MacNab family owned and occupied this home for 113 years until 1989, with the exception of a 2 year period when it was owned and occupied by the mayor of Arlington Heights, John Wood.
The original home had 9 foot ceilings heated by coal, then oil. Central heating was installed in 1947.
Duncan MacNab was the first constable (police officer) in Arlington Heights.
This home one of the six originally chosen by The Bicentennial Committee as an historical landmark and has a plaque.
