In 1849, the first one room school building was built on the Northwest corner of Miner Street and Prairie Street (Prairie Street later became known as Evergreen Street). Today the Uptown Cafe is located here.
By 1856, a two-room school house was built with two teachers.
In 1870, a four-room school house was built on St. James Street between Evergreen Street and State Road (later Arlington Heights Road).
On May 31, 1901 at a school board meeting, arrangements were made to purchase the land just North of the land already owned by the district for $200. This land was known as Parcel South 2/6 in the Southwest corner of Lot 3 in Block 5.
In 1902, the school district changed its number from 10 to 25.
On July 20, 1905, the board president was authorized to build a schoolhouse on Lots 3 and 4, Block 5 in the town of Dunton. This is when the second building of North School was constructed.
In 1925, the new high school building was constructed. An elementary school was built on the south side of the railroad tracks.
