Arlington Heights Road was once a Potawatomi Indian Trail.
The road was paved in 1916.
It was named State Road until it the name was changed to Arlington Heights Road in 1962.
Arlington Heights Road is the main street running North-South through all of central Arlington Heights.
Overall, Arlington Heights Road runs more than 10 miles. It starts from the North in Long Grove and Buffalo Grove. When it meets Dundee Road it enters Arlington Heights. It passes through the entire village of Arlington Heights until it meets Elk Grove Village after crossing Algonquin Road and the I-90 Expressway.
