Christian Volz Furniture Store and Funeral Parlor

Christian Volz came to America from Germany in 1854 and settled in Dunton in 1867.

He opened his business here in 1870. It was a furniture store AND funeral parlor. He built furniture out of walnut trees that grew near the Des Plaines river. He also built the beautiful staircase in the Muller home. Mr. Volz was very active in Arlington Heights and was one of the first village trustees.

Today the building is home to School of Rock.
