How was your trip?
Traveling to Cuba was an amazing experience! Before going to Cuba, I imagined how strict it was going to be and the regulations in place for tourists. When doing research on Cuba’s relationship with the U.S and other countries, there was a lot of negativity. Cuba was made to be seen as an oppressed nation by the media. I found varying opinions from cubanos after I spent time talking to people there. I have found Cuba to be a thriving socialist country. I loved my stay in Cuba and would definitely go back to visit, maybe even for study abroad experience. The Cuban government takes good care of their people in many ways. I was also surprised to see how welcoming and nice people are. Cuba has such rich history, culture, and most definitely diversity.
Cuba is much more than the perceptions that are commonly seen and heard about. The people and professionals we met the trip sp special, allowing us to better understand Cuba, the people, health care, and the Cuban government. This country is full of strong minded and proud Cubanos, who embrace being Cubano, which I find really inspiring. I fell in love with Cuba and will definitely go back. I really have to give my thanks to the amazing donors and those who had helped us along the way because with of all the support, 9 other girls and I were able to travel to Cuba where we met Jo, our tour guide, who did an awesome job showing us Cuba and the Cuban people.
