The statue of liberty, known

To symbolize freedom, and hope

The torch shining like a gem

As a beacon of hope

for those seeking a better future

But is it what it truly means?

Does it really welcome people without judgement?

The New Colossus doesn’t show

What America truly is from the inside

It doesn’t talk about the difficulties of an immigrant life

How Immigrants get picked on daily,

Or how they face discriminations for not being “American” and

Are treated as inferior beings

The Statue of liberty, Symbol of freedom and hope

The torch shining like a gem,

The gem that shines from afar

But from the inside it is dark and rusty

The Statue of Liberty, known

To symbolize freedom and hope

Is nothing but a meaningless lie.

নিকৃষ্ট প্রাণী হিসাবে বিবেচিত হয়

মশাল মণির মতো জ্বলছে,

যে মণি দূর থেকে জ্বলজ্বল করে

কিন্তু ভেতর থেকে তা অন্ধকার ও মরিচা

স্ট্যাচু অফ লিবার্টি, পরিচিত

স্বাধীনতা ও আশার প্রতীক

অর্থহীন মিথ্যা ছাড়া আর কিছুই নয়।
