The Statue of Liberty stands proud and tall,

Holding the torch whose flame burns bright,

Shining through the darkness like a beacon of hope,

To the masses that yearn for freedom,

Giving strength to the tired souls,

Lighting a path to the land of the free,

Doors wide open for the masses,

Justice and Liberty shall be given to thee,

Those to arrive cheer with joy,

Like a bird who has flown free,

Finally living the American dream,

How the times have changed,

The burning torch stuffed out,

The beacon of hope engulfed by darkness,

Closing the door on weary travelers,

Lady Liberty that was once welcoming,

Has disappeared into the river of time.
