LAMDA & Instrumental, Vocal and Theory Lessons

Instrumental, Vocal and Theory Individual Lessons at St Clement Danes

Individual Lessons are available in school for Piano, Singing, all the String, Brass and Woodwind instruments, Guitar (Classical, Acoustic and Electric), Drums, Percussion and Theory.

We have a team of fifteen experienced peripatetic teachers providing thirty weekly 30 minute lessons per academic year. Fees are agreed annually by the school. At present the termly fees are £275.00 for ten 30 minute lessons.

Students in Years 7 to 9 are taught during school lesson time on a rotation system. Year 10 and 11 students are taught either in their free time, in non-GCSE lessons (such as Personal Development) or occasionally when unavoidable, in academic lessons. Year 12 and 13 students are taught in their free periods.

Students will be entered for graded music exams at the discretion of the teacher. ABRSM and Trinity graded music exams are held in school twice a year and can also be completed online. Rock School exams are entered externally or online. Fees for the examinations will apply.

There are lots of opportunities for players of all standards to join in the school’s many and varied musical activities, whether they take lessons in or out of school. These include First and Second Orchestra, Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, Brass Group, Choirs and a school production. Weekly rehearsals take place during break times, lunchtimes and after school. Concerts and other musical performances take place each term. All instrumentalists of a suitable standard are expected to join in at least one group activity, as this is a valuable learning experience for the student, as well as allowing them to share their music-making with others and helping to enhance the musical profile of the school.
