Writing Mini-Lesson
Mini-Lesson:
The mini lesson is the heart of workshop, creating an opportunity for explicit instruction in a new strategy or skill. Generally, mini-lessons last approximately 10 minutes. The teacher delivers the information in a clear, logical manner and sends the writers off to apply skills while writing independently. Mini-lessons target management of the workshop; the writing process; author’s craft strategies; or editing and revision skills. Mini-lessons are brief and concise to ensure that students have the opportunity to transfer new skills.
