Senior College Planning Calendar

These are general guidelines.   Please be aware of deadlines for schools, scholarships, etc.


August/September

 

- Check senior courses.  Do they meet graduation requirements and expectations of colleges? 


- Attend the College Planning Presentation with your parents September 28th, 2023 (during Open House) @ 6pm or 7pm.


- Register for the SAT

   

- Register with NCAA Eligibility Center if you intend to compete in DI or DII athletics

  

- Begin first draft of college essays

 

 

- Take SAT (if registered for September Saturday administration)


- Check College Visits calendar to meet with admissions representatives in the student services office


- Check Naviance for scholarships

October

 

- Attend Financial Aid Night with your parents Thursday, October 5th @ 6:30 - Lecture Hall


- Begin submitting financial aid forms (FAFSA, CSS Profile)


- Reduce your preliminary list of colleges to a manageable number (3-8)

 

- Begin Common Application and/or Request applications from colleges

 

- Review for the SAT.  Free SAT prep. using these resources:  Tutor.com & Naviance (both in waffle of school gmail account) & Khanacademy 

  

-  If you are applying under an “Early Decision” or “Early Action” program, you may need to submit the application now.  Please notify your counselor at least ten (10) school days before your earliest deadline.

 

- Check College Visits calendar to meet with admissions representatives in the student services office


- Check Naviance for scholarships

November

 

- Take SAT (if needed)

       -  send scores to your chosen colleges/universities

 

- Review completed applications with your counselor by November 15th (target date to get applications done).  Schedule an appointment with your counselor as needed for specific application deadlines.


- Take SAT or Subject tests (if registered for Saturday administration in November)


-Participate in "ApplyNH" event to apply to all NH Colleges & Universities for free!

Wednesday, November 15th - MHS Library


- Check College Visits calendar to meet with admissions representatives in the student services office


- Check Naviance for scholarships


- Have you received the Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA by email? (may be needed for scholarship applications)

December

- Take SAT (if needed)

    -  send scores to your chosen colleges/universities

 

- Check application deadlines set by your chosen schools (see each school's website)

 

- Complete applications and review with your counselor two weeks before deadline

 

- Check College Visits calendar to meet with admissions representatives in the student services office


- Check Naviance for scholarships


- Have you received the Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA by email? (may be needed for scholarship applications)

January

- Perform well on 1st semester final exams


- Maintain rigorous schedule second semester


- Check Naviance for scholarships


- Have you received the Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA by email? (may be needed for scholarship applications)

February

- Attend “Paying for College 101: Understanding Offer Letters” presentation - Thursday, February 15th 2024


- Have you sent in all applications? Your financial aid forms?

 

- Check to make sure that mid-year report cards have been sent.


- Check Naviance for scholarships


- Send SAT or ACT scores to colleges of interest


- Have you received the Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA by email? (may be needed for scholarship applications)

March

- Explore the colleges you have applied to as thoroughly as possible.

  

- Have you received the Student Aid Report (SAR) from FAFSA by email? (may be needed for scholarship applications)


- Check Naviance for scholarships

 

April

- Keep a look out for acceptance letters!

 

-  Review your acceptance and financial aid offers.

 

- Visit the college of your choice before final decision.

 

- Notify all colleges of final decision.  Don’t miss deposit deadline for chosen school.

June

-Notify the Student Services Office of final college decision by completing “Senior Planning Survey”
