The next step is to connect the NOVAQ to the phase wires of the electric motor. Let's start with the three current sensors.
1. Check if the amperage of the current sensors and the current sensor cables match the electric motor.
2. Plug the connectors of the current sensor cables into the corresponding ports of the NOVAQ and lead the sensor cables from the NOVAQ to the corresponding phase wires of the motor.
The correct wiring order is brown - black - grey, starting from the port closest to the DIN rail mount.
Notice Plugging a connector into the wrong port on the NOVAQ is prevented by red insert pieces in the connectors. The current sensor connectors only fit in the corresponding port on the NOVAQ.
3. Open the current sensors and clamp them around the phase wire, ensuring correct orientation as indicated by the sticker on each sensor.
Notice For multiple phase wires, place the sensor around a single wire per phase.
Notice If there is more than a single wire per phase, please share installation details with Samotics using WhatsApp Chat Support
4. If necessary, the existing sensor cables may be extended, provided the total cable length does not exceed 10 meters.
Use only 26 AWG twisted-pair shielded cable for the extension.
Ways to extend sensor cables:
Solder method
Remove heat-shrink, disconnect wires, cut off ferrules from existing wires, strip ends.
Strip new cable ends, twist and solder matching wires, connect shields together.
Heat-shrink joints, reconnect wires to connector, shield to port 3.
Wago method
Remove heat-shrink, disconnect wires, keep ferrules on existing wires.
Strip new cable ends, insert each into same Wago as matching existing wire, connect shields in separate Wago.
Reconnect wires to connector, shield to port 3.
Notice These two methods are suggested, you may use other suitable methods as needed.
