On November 9-13, six students from our school (10th and 11th grade) participated in the Erasmus+ group mobility project at Espergærde Gymnasium in Denmark. Students participated in a United Nations simulation conference (EGMUN) organized by Danish students, which was preceded by an active preparation period.
From our school, Mark Anry Kriisa, Mark Nurmsalu, Mark Tjurlik (11.a), Ott Kahar, Victoria Roos (11.b) and Stefany Härma (10.b) took part in the conference. The students were accompanied by Lorenz Frankenschmidt, teacher of the MUN elective course.
Lorenz Frankenschmidt, the teacher who accompanied the students, shares his memories of what he experienced at the conference.
“There was a lot of excitement in the air this year when the annual Espergærde High School Model United Nations (EGMUN) conference in Denmark finally got underway on November 9th. The six 10b, 11b and 11a students had been preparing their roles at the conference for the past three months and were eager to represent the country of Gabon, experience new challenges, meet new people and test their skills as diplomats and political negotiators in their committees. . Having appointed themselves to represent a seemingly unknown country like Gabon, our students showed that in the Model United Nations it is not important how big the country is that is represented, but what skills, arguments and debates can be created and how to argue. Therefore, it was all the more gratifying that Victoria Roos and Mark Anry Kriisa won the "Best Delegate" nomination at this year's EGMUN conference. We met new people, made new friends and in the process learned a lot about the world of politics and debate culture.”
