The course Creative Strategies for Language Teachers: Make it easy, make it real took place in Barcelona, Spain, from 25. to 29. October 2022.
The structured course was attended by teachers from Finland, Germany, Greece, Belgium and the Netherlands and Estonia. Our mentor was the Italian Federica di Bartolomeo, who lives and works in Barcelona, Spain.
The course gave the participants the necessary knowledge on how to integrate different subjects, which would support each student's individual learning path and motivate them. In addition, the course focused on traditional as well as digital tools that help students develop language skills through storytelling, music, cinema, arts and creativity.
I really enjoyed Story Dice, which I use for creative tasks in various lessons. From theoretical knowledge, thoughts were shared about language teaching and linguistics and psycholinguistics applied in language learning, with which the participants can apply appropriate learning strategies in their lessons. On the practical side, we learned how to bring art and visual thinking into the classroom; we created exciting digital games, made an e-book, group works, etc. They are a good inspiration and a tool for diversifying language lessons.
An added bonus of the course was the exchange of experiences between teachers and schools from different countries and to find out what the opportunities for digital education are in different European countries.
I hope that the new contacts found will allow me and our school to get new partners in the future.
