At Saint Leo the Great School, our technology clubs are tailored to spark creativity, enhance problem-solving skills, and promote effective teamwork among students. This year, we're excited to spotlight our popular Tech Club, open to students in grades 2-8. Participants dive into the world of 3D game design, engaging in both play and creation, while learning Lua programming to develop interactive game elements and innovative designs.

We adapt our tech club offerings throughout the school year based on student interests, previously featuring clubs in robotics, website development, and even artificial intelligence and engineering. Our approach ensures that every club, whether it's a returning favorite or a new venture, enriches students' technical abilities and digital citizenship, preparing them for a future in a digital world.

Tailored for rising 2nd to 8th graders, spanning across 15 engaging hours. 

In this exciting and hands-on STEM camp, students will dive into the world of technology by designing and building their own 3D games—not just playing them! Through fun, beginner-friendly coding activities in an immersive game environment, campers will spark their creativity, boost problem-solving skills, and learn the basics of game development. Plus, they'll get a sneak peek into web design with an introduction to HTML and CSS. It’s the perfect mix of imagination, coding, and STEM exploration!

Join our Roblox Club, where magic happens twice a week, right here in our world of endless possibilities!

🎮  Play Beyond the Game! Get ready to team up with friends, explore new worlds, and embark on exciting adventures together. But that's not all—become the master of your game by learning cool tricks and tips!

👾  Create Like a Pro! Ever wanted to build your own campfire in a game, complete with crackling fire, swirling smoke, and glowing light? Or how about constructing an epic archway gate that looks like it leads to another dimension? We'll teach you all this and more! You'll get hands-on with Lua, the language that makes Roblox run, and learn how to:

• Combine objects to craft something totally new!

• Add awesome effects to make your creations come to life!

• Create a teleporting gate to jump between worlds!

Roblox Club: Fall 2024 (Additional Section on Thursdays)

This fall, due to high demand, we are offering another section of the after-school Roblox club to students in grades 2-8 (ten sessions) on Thursdays.

Registration is closed. 

Session Details: 

• Days + Time: Thursdays from 3-4 PM

• Meeting Dates: Sep. 12, 19, 26; Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 (+ 31: make-up session for a few students); Nov. 7, 14, 21 + Dec. 5 (extra session for all)

• Fee: $185 per student

• Registration Deadline: September 9, 2024

• Payment Deadline: September 10, 2024

Club Activities Include:

• Playing Roblox with classmates

• Learning a little about Lua, the programming language behind Roblox

• Creating interactive game elements like a campfire model with fire, smoke, and light

• Combining parts to craft new objects

• Developing a script to animate characters

• Building a teleporting gate for in-game travel

Session Details:

• Days & Dates: Wednesdays from September 11 to November 13, 2024

• Time: 3-4 PM

• Meeting Dates: Sep. 11, 18, 25; Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23 (Mrs. Salem absent), 30; Nov. 6, 13 + 20 (extra session for all), Dec. 4 (make up for Oct. 23)

Club Activities Include:

• Playing Roblox with classmates

• Learning a little about Lua, the programming language behind Roblox

This summer, Saint Leo Offered a

Roblox & Coding Camp 

Tailored for rising 3rd to 7th graders, spanning across 12 engaging hours.

During the camp, students did not only engage in gameplay but also gained hands-on experience in game creation, fostering their creativity and technical skills. Furthermore, they had the chance to enhance their coding proficiency through instruction in HTML and Scratch programming languages.

Registration Deadline: June 14, 2024
Starting Date: June 17, 2024

• Time: From 9 AM to 12 PM

• Meeting Dates: June 17, 18, 20, 21

• Fee: $300 (after May 17)

We can only accept 20 students. First come, first served.
Once we have 20 students, we will open the waitlist.

Once we have reached the seat limit, we will open the waitlist. In order to guarantee a seat for your child, you need to send a check with the required amount to the school's Front Office. The check needs to be payable to Nada Salem and have the names of the camp and the student + their current grade level on it. 

All checks need to be received by May 17 for Early Bird.
All other checks need to be received by June 15 for Regular Registrations.

Roblox Club, Second Semester, 2023-2024

During the second semester of 2023-2024, St. Leo's offered one after-school Roblox Club to students in grades 2-8 (10 sessions).

Starting Date: February 15, 2024

We can only accept 20 students. First come, first served. [Waitlist started on Feb. 1 at 11:30 AM.] 

• Day + Time: Thursday from 3-4 PM

• Meeting Dates: Feb. 15, 22, 29; Mar. 7, 21; Apr. 11, 18, 25; May 2, 9

• Fee: $150* per student
  *All the proceeds (minus the required insurance fee) will be donated back to St. Leo's to enhance our technology program!

In 2022-2023, St. Leo's offered different after-school clubs in technology. 

During the first semester, we offered the following: 

• Mondays: Robotics (grades 5-8)
  (10 sessions: Oct. 31, Nov. 7,14,28, Dec. 5,12, Jan. 9,23,30, Feb. 6)

• Tuesdays: Tech-mentorship Club: Website & Graduation Videos (receive certificate at the end of the year + volunteer hours- grades 6-8)

(12 sessions first semester: Nov. 1,8,15,29, Dec. 6,13, Jan. 3,10,17,24, 31, Feb. 7)

• Wednesdays: Roblox/Minecraft (grades 3-8)

(10 sessions: Nov. 2,9,16,30, Dec. 7,14, Jan. 11,18,25, Feb. 1)

• Thursdays: Artificial Intelligence/Engineering/Drones (grades 5-8)

(11 sessions: Nov. 3,10 (early dismissal),17, Dec. 1,8,15, Jan. 5,12,19,26, Feb. 2)

All clubs started the week of October 31. The first semester ended on February 7. 

During the second semester, we offered the following: 

• Mondays: Robotics (grades 2*-8; from 3:15-4:15pm)
  (10 sessions: Mar. 6,13,20,27, Apr. 3, 17, 24, May 1,8,15 )
  * Second graders need to have prior experience in robotics.

• Tuesdays: Tech-mentorship Club: Website & Graduation Videos (receive certificate + volunteer hours- grade 8; from 3-4:30pm)

(15 sessions: Feb. 14,21,28, Mar. 7,14,21,28, Apr. 4,18,25, May 2,9,16,23,30)

• Wednesdays: Roblox (grades 2-8; from 3:15-4:15pm-- Waitlist as of Feb. 23)

• Thursdays: Minecraft (grades 2-8; from 3:15-4:15pm)
