In Technology Class at Saint Leo the Great Catholic School, the classroom rules across all levels center on being kind and respectful to oneself, others, and school property. Students are expected to greet their teacher warmly upon entering the classroom and maintain silence during lessons unless given permission to speak. They must also handle school devices with care and keep their work areas tidy. Consequences for not adhering to these rules escalate from verbal warnings to more stringent measures, such as computer restrictions. Additionally, the school emphasizes online safety and decorum, requiring students to sign a pledge promising responsible behavior online, such as protecting personal information, avoiding unknown links, and respecting others. This comprehensive framework of rules and pledges ensures a safe, respectful, and conducive learning environment, both in-person and online.
Details:
Main Rule:
BE KIND & RESPECTFUL!
Be kind & respectful to yourself first, as "Charity begins at home!"
Be kind & respectful to others (at school: your friends/classmates, teachers, and staff).
Be kind & respectful to property: all the devices you use at school.
Additional Rules:
Ticket In: Greet your teacher before you enter the classroom: say hello with a smile + look your teacher in the eye + fist bump or hug... In the future: shake hands [strongly] or high five)
Ticket Out: Say "Thank you, Mrs. Salem; God bless you!" before you leave the classroom.
Show Gratitude: Say "Thank you!" after receiving help or any prize.
No talking in class.
If you have any question or comment, raise your hand and silently wait for permission to speak. Do not leave your seat without permission.
If Mrs. Salem is busy with another student, you may either continue your work, watch the prayer videos on her website, or work on Typing Club/Canva. You must remain silent.
If we have visitors (or your teacher needs to answer the school phone), you should be on your best behavior: no talking at all. If a Priest, the Principal, or the Assistant Principal visits our classroom, stand up quietly, say hello, then sit down and show respect, without saying a single word.
At the end of class, before you leave:
Make sure your work area is clean and neat: mouse on the right + headphone/cord under the left side of the screen.
Do NOT change the screen background.
X out, push your chair back in, then line up silently.
Do NOT turn your screen off!
Consequences:
Warning 1: Verbal Warning
Warning 2: Computer locked for 5 minutes
Warning 3: Computer locked for 15 minutes
Warning 4 for grades k-2: Computer locked for the rest of the session and an email goes home.
Warning 4 for grades 3-5: Passport Point Removed
Notes:
1- If Mrs. Salem has to ring her classroom bell 3 times, the whole class gets a warning.
2- Anyone who accesses a non-approved website will immediately get a passport point removed (without any warning).
