Audrey is currently the President of Gyalphozhing College of Information Technology and the Chief Advisor to Sherubtse College. She has been instrumental in reforming Bhutan’s ICT Higher Education, introducing modern Pedagogical and Andragogical approaches in teaching & learning along with advancing GCIT and Sherubtse applied abilities in Computer Science, Interactive Development, Digital Design, Project Management and Economics. Prior to moving to Bhutan, she has more than 10 years of teaching experiences in Singapore and a decade of organisational experiences in Finance and Oil & Gas. Audrey is a regular feature on stage where she enjoys sharing knowledge about Disruptive and Generative Technologies. Her most recent conversation is about Generative AI and the exponential growth of Blockchain Software Technology. During weekends, she enjoys planning for day-hikes around Bhutan, watching non-fictional documentaries in Netflix and loves playing golf. She has one favorite motto to achievement and that is “If you want to Build something worthwhile, be ready for Criticism”.
The President provides overall leadership for both academic and operational functions at GCIT. The role ensures the alignment of institutional activities with GCIT’s mission and the broader objectives of the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB).
Key Responsibilities:
• Strategic Planning & Policy Development: Leads long-term strategic planning in accordance with RUB’s Strategic Plan 2018–2030 (p. 20) (Royal University of Bhutan, 2018).
• Financial Oversight: Supervises budgeting, financial planning, and allocation of resources.
• External Relations & Partnerships: Enhances industry linkages and global collaborations to promote GCIT’s reputation as a technology-driven institution.
• Institutional Governance: Ensures compliance with RUB Governance Manual (p. 42) and other academic policies (Royal University of Bhutan, n.d.).
Ronnie Peh is a seasoned IT professional and educator with over 25 years of experience in curriculum design, competency-based training, and assessment for tertiary education. Formerly with Singapore Polytechnic and UOL Goldsmiths College, he specializes in Full Stack Development, Blockchain, AI, and Game Development, now serving as Senior Director at GCIT.
Senior Director, School of Computing (SOC)
The Senior Director of the School of Computing (SOC) leads academic programs, faculty, and research initiatives with a focus on:
• Blockchain Development
• Cybersecurity
• Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science
• Full Stack Development
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversees curriculum standards and faculty development, ensuring alignment with RUB’s academic quality guidelines (Wheel of Academic Law, Section 5.2, pp. 28–30) (Royal University of Bhutan, 2017).
• Manages resource allocation within SOC to maintain high academic and industry standards.
Aldwin Sumalabe- Director
Mr. Aldwin Sumalabe, Director of the School of Computing at GCIT, has 18 years in academia and 11 years in IT industry. Specializing in AI, Internet of Things, Quality Assurance, and Curriculum Development, he excels in faculty mentoring, research, and integrating emerging technologies into education. Currently pursuing a PhD in Educational Management.
The Director of SOC, reporting to the Senior Director, plays a critical role in program implementation and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Curriculum Enhancement: Ensures programs in AI, Data Science, Full Stack Development meet evolving technological trends.
• Industry Engagement: Develops partnerships with tech companies and research institutions to enhance student employability.
• Academic Quality Assurance: Implements continuous institutional and program review (2022, p. 7) (Royal University of Bhutan, 2022).
Mr. Alex Zazhigin- Technical Director
Mr. Alex Zazhigin - Technical Director
Alexander Zazhigin is an IT expert with over 30 years of programming experience. He has worked at the Institute for System Programming, Russian Academy of Sciences, contributing to international telecom compilers and coding standards. With over 10 years of experience in leading Russian enterprises in banking, telecom, and retail as a Technical Leader and Solution Architect, he also has over 5 years of experience in blockchain development.
Technical Director, School of Computing (SOC)
The Technical Director of the School of Computing (SOC) oversees academic programs, faculty, and research with a focus on:
Blockchain (BC) Development
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning (DL)
Full Stack Development (FS)
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Enhancement: Ensures programs in BC development and DL technologies like LLM and AlphaZero.
Academic Research: Leads research, development, and ownership of technologies in BC and DL.
Staff Development: Conducts workshops to enhance technical expertise in BC and DL.
Mr. Howard Yap- Director for Technopreneurship and Startup
Director for Technopreneurship and Startup
The Director for Technopreneurship and Startup promotes an entrepreneurial culture within GCIT by supporting students in developing startup ideas and business ventures.
Key Responsibilities:
• Startup Incubation & Mentorship: Coordinates mentorship programs with industry experts.
• Entrepreneurship Workshops & Funding Access: Organizes entrepreneurial workshops and facilitates access to venture funding for student-led initiatives.
• Innovation & Business Development: Ensures students develop practical business acumen to transition from idea creation to commercialization (RUB Strategic Plan 2018–2030, p. 17) (Royal University of Bhutan, 2018).
Mr. Yonten Jamtsho- Assistant Director of the School of Interactive Design and Development
Mr. Jamtsho is the Assistant Director at the School of Interactive Design and Development, Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology, under the Royal University of Bhutan. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from Sherubtse College, an M.Eng in Computer Engineering from Naresuan University, and a PgCert in Higher Education from Samtse College of Education. His interests include reading, music, photography, hiking, sports, and community service. His research focuses on Digital Image Processing and Computer Vision Applications, with publications in international journals and conferences. He has also reviewed numerous journal and conference papers in Artificial Intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Curriculum Design & Faculty Coordination: Ensures courses are industry-aligned and technology-driven (Wheel of Academic Law, Section 5.2, pp. 28–30) (Royal University of Bhutan, 2017).
• Industry Collaboration: Develops partnerships for multimedia innovation projects.
Mr. Chee Yong Lee, CPA -Finance Manager
Chee Yong Lee is the Head of Finance and School Services at Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology (GCIT), where he oversees the college’s finance, estate, and operational functions. He began his career at PwC and KPMG, two of the Big 4 auditing firms, leading audit engagements for a wide range of clients, from small enterprises to large multinational corporations in industries such as oil & gas, retail, and technology. Chee Yong later joined NSL Ltd., a Singapore-listed company, where he managed group-level financial reporting and consolidation for 40 subsidiaries, drove cost-saving initiatives, and ensured compliance with SGX regulations. A Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), Chee Yong has a proven track record in financial governance, strategic planning, and operational excellence.
Finance Manager
The Finance Manager oversees GCIT’s financial operations, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Budgeting & Financial Planning: Ensures compliance with RUB’s financial policies (HRRR, Chapter 4, Financial Operations) (Royal University of Bhutan, 2017).
• Resource Allocation & Financial Oversight: Manages financial transactions and fund utilization.
Mr. Bernardo Gumapac- Head of Information Communication and Technology (ICT)
Head of Information Communication and Technology (ICT)
The Head of ICT ensures that GCIT’s digital infrastructure supports both academic and administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Network Security & Digital Learning Systems: Manages IT security, cloud computing, and digital learning platforms.
• Technology Integration in Education: Supports e-learning and digital resource planning.
