Self Portrait

This is my self portrait, I used a few different pencils 2H, HB, 4B, and 6B. I started with a picture I took this summer and enlarged it, turned it black and white, and than printed it. I Than gridded both of them and went square by square of the picture and copied.

I used space, line, value, balance. I used space by have no white on my paper, I used line by making the graph at first and than I used a lot of value. Using the different pencils made it darker and lighter, softer or harder. Value was one of the biggest things to this because you realize you don't out line anything, its all shading and what pencil you use, and making sure you go square by square by square and matching everything up.

The meaning to this is not much, Its just me. This relates to my life because this is a drawing of me. If I could go back and change something, I'd redo my mouth because my gums show to much than the actual picture making it not look that much like me. Just being the slightest off, can make it hard to identify who it is. My eye is also slanted a little too much, but i will admit this turned out a million times better than I expected!! Overall I feel pretty good about this.
