Color Design

This is my Color Design. The project was to use the three primary colors: red, yellow, and blue. The Secondary colors: orange, purple, and green. And the tertiary colors: yellow green, green blue, blue violate, violate red, red orange, and yellow orange. After having those twelve colors I had to make three tints and three shades. So I wanted to do something abstract, I started marking one inch at the top and bottom and connected them going vertical, then I made diagonal lines going across. I knew I had more blocks than needed so I filled in three black lines going down. I put the primary, secondary and tertiary colors in the middle and made the three tints up and the three shades down. I used acrylic paint for my Color Design. I chose this because Im not very creative so I went with a more basic idea.

I used line, shape, color, value, space, balance, contrast, and more. I used line in the beginning when sketching out. I used color throughout the whole thing and using all the colors. I used space by using up the whole canvas and filling in with black. I used contrast by using the tints and shades. In this, I used tape to make sure everything was straight and not out of the lines. In the end I realized my orange was more of a red orange and my red orange was more of an orange. It kind of throws it off but Im okay with it.

If I could go back I would fix the orange and red orange. I would also make it have less brush strokes. Id also say I would take my time, but I did but still felt rushed to get it done. I feel this could've been stronger but I felt like I didn't have the time to complete it.
