Good Morning friends, take a look at our activities for today!

Journal

Set aside a few minutes each day for your child to write in their journal. Your child’s journal is inside their “Activity Bag” that was sent home last week. The goal is to encourage the children to match their story with their picture. Also, there is a writing checklist inside their notebooks. I encourage inventive spelling, stretching out the sounds in the word and writing what they hear. Also finger spaces between words.

Challenge of the day

Build a volcano out of legos! This will be used for an experiment later in the week. Make sure the volcano has an open space in the middle. There is an example picture below.

Math

For the first activity you will need dominoes and manipulatives. (The children could draw their own if you do not have them.) You will need to show the number on the dominoes first and then add the two numbers together. For example, 6 yellow + 3 red =9. After building with cubes, record your equation.

Next, your will work on fact families. There are 3 numbers at the top of your house. How do these numbers relate? You can start by having your child fill in the missing addend or if they are more independent they can complete on their own! ( 2 addition and 2 subtraction)
