In literacy centers the children worked on the H brothers (sh, ch, wh, and th) Find these digraphs when you are reading at home!

In math centers, the children played a 'snowball fight' strategy game! We also discussed the importance of good sportsmanship!

Dr. Glader read the story, Moody Cow. We discussed our feelings and appropriate strategies we can use if we feel frusterated, sad or angry.

Also, in math we are starting a new unit on grouping concepts. These concepts provide the foundation for understanding equations. They will learn to find the ten in 10 in teen numbers (17=10=7) and break about numbers to find "partners" (6=4+).

The children enjoyed learning about coding! The first program through Osmo, the children had to build the code to program music and dancing in a band. In the second picture the students built the code and steps to maneuver the character through a path in the forest. They had to figure out how move around specific obstacles and travel from point A to B. Even when presented with a challenge, they persevered!

We read the story, If I Built a Car by Chris Van Dusen, to kick off our Transportation Unit. In the story, the young boy creates a magical car with jet engines, a Plexiglas dome, polymer gel siding and even a swimming pool! The kiddos loved brainstorming unique gadgets and put their plans into action by sketching a design of their car.

Mechanics hard at work imagining, designing, and building.

Come to the Kindergarten Auto Show this Tuesday, December 17 from 2:15 to 3PM.

We watched a Brain Pop video about the importance of different types of transportation. As a class, we sorted by air, land, and water transportation.

The children have to read the words and decide which are real words vs. nonsense words. Then they have to write the word that corresponds with the picture.

These children are identifying beginning and ending sounds of a word.
