Kristyn Towers, LMFT

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, LMFT #114990

Mental Health Specialist I

Hello students, parents and staff! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the Mental Health Specialist here at West Park High School. I have eight years of experience working in school districts with students, staff and parents. Positive mental health is critical to student’s success in school and everyday life. I believe mental health encompasses social, emotional, and behavioral health and the ability to cope with life's challenges. My approach to therapy includes cognitive behavioral techniques, motivational interviewing and solution focused techniques to help students use their support system, community resources, mindfulness and newly learned skills to live the kind of life they envision for themselves. My goal is to help youth reach their highest potential and to help families live more harmonious and happier lives together.

Ruben Barriga, MSWI Intern

California State University, Chico

Hello, my name is Ruben and I am working towards my masters degree in Social Work.     I am excited to start this new chapter of my life while being part of the Wellness Center family at West Park High School. The passion I have working with people and my interest in helping create a society that feels safe, welcoming, and equitable has brought me to where I am today. Having worked as a corrections officer in the military, along with having academic backgrounds in Criminal Justice, Behavioral and Social Sciences, and Chicano/Chicana Studies have also presented me with life skills that will allow me to be more effective in helping to address many different aspects one may encounter that have the potential of hindering the development of good mental health and well being of anyone in need.
