WHY?

Today's teens are bombarded with pressures from every direction. The influx of social media, peer relationships, pressure to vape and engage in substance use and high expectations to perform at school all have an impact on how teens cope with life.

Mental health and wellness is a growing concern for teens and their parents, the depression rate in teens has increased from 8.3 percent (in 2008) to 10.7 percent (in 2013) (Center for Disease Control) and teens experiencing anxiety is also on the rise.

The RJUHSD recognizes the need to support the whole student and School Based Wellness Centers provide trained mental health professionals available to students in distress and more importantly to intervene before a crisis happens. WELLNESS?
