Procedure for Leave of Absence &  Withdrawal

If you plan to take a leave of absence or withdraw from Rikkyo University, please be sure to contact the International Office in advance. The Academic Affairs Office will handle the applications, but the International Office have to manage the international student's residency status. 1．Taking a Leave of Absence

①　Contact the International Office (at rikkyo-seiki@rikkyo.ac.jp)

Things you need to mention: 

　・Period of absence from school (From when to when you plan to take a leave of absence)

　・Reasons for leave of absence

　・If you are receiving any scholarships, you need to let the International Office know

　※You may be asked to come to the International Office to  explain your situation and discuss your future plans.

②　Submit a "Request for Leave of Absence" to the Academic Affairs Office

③　Procedure of leaving from Japan

Once your request is approved by Rikkyo University, your "Student" visa status will become invalid and you will have to change to another visa in order to reman in Japan or return to your home country.  After approval of your leave of absence, the International Office will send you an e-mail to let you know that your request was approved. Please be sure to submit the form below when you received the email.

Online form: Notification of Leaving Japan (for those taking a leave of absence/leaving school)

※When you are returning to your home country, you must return your residence card to the immigration officer at the airport which you leave Japan.

２．Withdrawing from School

①　Contact the International Office (at rikkyo-seiki@rikkyo.ac.jp)

Things you need to mention: 

　・When you are withdrawing from school 

　・Reasons for withdrawal

　・If you are receiving any scholarships, you need to let the International Office know

②　Submit a "Request for Withdrawal from School " to the Academic Affairs Office

③　Procedure of leaving from Japan（if you are leaving Japan soon）

Once your request is approved by Rikkyo University, your "Student" visa status will become invalid and you will have to change to another visa in order to reman in Japan or return to your home country.  After approval of your withdrawal, the International Office will send you an e-mail to let you know that your request was approved.
