Ken Pelo (Honorary Member) - Coach Ken Pelo taught American History, government, and economics for 37 years at Rogers High School. Coach Pelo is a veteran, a great-grandfather, a teacher, and a coach. He graduated from Eastern Montana College, now the University his of Montana, in 1958. He served our country as an Army Infantryman in the Korean War in 1953. He began his long career at Rogers High School in 1959, teaching Special Education, History, and World Geography. Ken met and married the love of his life, Carol, in 1960. Coach Pelo coached football, American Legion baseball and was an American Legion Umpire for 10 years in the Greater Spokane League.
In November 1960, Coach Pelo became the Head Rogers High School Wrestling coach. Over the years his wrestlers accumulated many awards and acknowledgements including: 13 Team GSL Championships, 10 individual State Champions, 58 State placers and 125 State participants. In 1991 Coach Pelo received the Washington State Coach of the year award and was inducted into the Washington State Coaches Hall of Fame in 1998.
His legacy continues today as countless wrestlers went on to be coaches and pass on the experiences. This includes the current varsity wrestling coach Rod Tamura and assistant coach Matt Miethe.
