Shawn graduated from Rogers in 1991. He graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelors of Arts in Earth Science and then received his Masters of Arts in Education from Grand Canyon University. During college Shawn worked at United Parcel Service (UPS) at night while going to school during the day and did some coaching in freshman football and wrestling at Shaw Middle School and Rogers High School. He is currently teaching at John R. Rogers High School where he is the science teacher, head wrestling coach, freshman football and soccer coach. He also ran junior wrestling and freestyle wrestling programs for the kids in the Hillyard Community. Shawn is currently the Head Boys Golf Coach and is teaching Science Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) classes. As the Head of the Science Department Shawn has played a significant role in adding the Project Lead the Way at Rogers. The classes increased the science, engineering, and bio-medical classes. For the past 20 years Shawn has acted as the tournament Director for the M-2 Mallet and Spok-A-Loo wrestling tournaments as well as organizes the Pirate Open Golf Tournament. Shawn is passionate about being a teacher, coach, and mentor to all the students at his alma mater.
Nancy graduated in 1963. She is a Registered Nurse, a Public Health Nurse, a Certified Lactation Counselor for the Regional Health District, and has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She has the certification to be a school nurse. Nancy received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing as a non-traditional student and did it while raising a large family. her community service includes the following: Relief Society President in the Church of the Latter Day Saints and as a classroom volunteer at Adams Elementary. Nancy's honors and awards include the following: Meritorious Service Award for Central Valley School District, Eastern Washington University Dean's List, President's Honor Roll at Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College. Named Volunteer of the year by the Bemiss Neighborhood Council, a Meritorious Service Award Nominee for Adams Elementary, and the Golden Acorn Award at Opportunity Elementary.
Pat graduated in 1969. He received an Associates of Arts Degree in baking from Spokane Community College. He served as a wrestling official for 42 years for colleges, high schools, and junior high schools. He officiated 47 district champions, 41 regional champions, and 17 state championships. Pat has held every leadership position in the local wrestling organization and the Inland Empire Wrestling Officials Association where he is currently the lead trainer. Pat has been inducted into the Rogers Hall of Fame for wrestling, he was the Wrestling Official of the Year for Washington State, and received the Meritorious Service Award for his service to the youth in wrestling for the entire Inland Empire. In 1986 Pat survived a horrific automobile crash after being hit by a drunk driver. In the fifteen years since the accident he has spoken at the DUI Victims' Panel four or five times a month in Spokane and in Coeur d'Alene. He volunteers his time to help stop others from drinking and driving.
David graduated from Rogers in 1959. David has completed many company-sponsored training schools and seminars for the design and engineering of large commercial heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems-pneumatic, electric, and digital energy management systems. David started as a draftsman at Johnson Controls, Inc. and drafted the control system piping and wiring diagrams for many of the buildings in Spokane including the Opera House, Spokane Convention Center, and many of the buildings at Washington State University, Hanford, and all of the powerhouses for the dams on the lower Snake River. David's community service include: coached Little League baseball for Shakey's Pizza, volunteers with Spokane Youth Sports baseball, Athletic Director at St. Thomas More, helped develop and continues to maintain a spreadsheet to track all of the graduates of the Rogers Class of 1960. His honors and awards include: nationally recognized by Johnson Controls, Inc. for designing, selling, and managing an energy-saving project for the City of Spokane Opera House and Convention Center Complex, the Carousal building, the old library, and the United States Pavilion building. These actions reduced the annual heating cost at the Opera House and the Convention Center. David has also had numerous honors and wards while working for over forty years in the HAVC industry.
Grace graduated in 1960. She spent one year at Eastern State University taking classes in business, cake decorating, knitting, and making wedding cakes. Grace managed the Benewah Milk Bottle for two years. Her work history includes the following: Insurance Finance Company, Spokane Youth Sports Association, and as secretary to the Baseball Coordinator. Grace's community involvement includes the following: President for the Lynwood School Preschool Parents' and Teachers' Association. Her honors include the following: won many trophies, awards, and pins while on the Women's' Bowling City League, won awards for volunteering for various sports for the Spokane Youth Sports Association, Cub Scout Leader, and Co-Chairman of St. Martha Guild at St. Thomas More Church. She belonged to the Spokane Women's Bowling Association and was on the Board of Directors. Grace has worked on all of her high school class reunions and she has kept track of all of her classmates. She was the Co-Chairman for the 60's decade. This year Grace is Chairman of the Memorial Committee. She belonged to the Lilac City Drill Team for the Women's Eagles Auxiliary #2 and marched in the St. Patricks' Parade, the Lilac Parade in order to get ready for competitions. She participated in precision drill maneuvers and parades around the State of Washington.
