DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE
Information Technology is an applied subject and all candidates will have frequent access to computer and Internet facilities to develop their skills. However, the theoretical component is substantial and the students need to be competent readers and writers. Those who opt for this course also need good study skills and self-management skills.
The whole Information Communication Technology course is a two year course and made up of two separate qualifications. After two years the students will receive the IGCSE Information Technology qualification.

The course is split into two; Theory and Practical: All candidates take three papers. The two practical tests will each comprise a number of tasks to be taken under controlled conditions. The practical tests focus on the candidate's ability to carry out practical tasks rather than to explain the theory of how the tasks are completed. Candidates are assessed on their ability to complete these tasks. They should use knowledge-based practical skills from sections 1–16
All tasks are compulsory and externally assessed.
Paper 1(Theory 100 marks) is 40% of the total marks, takes 2 hours.
Paper 2 (Practical 80 marks) is 30% of the total marks, takes 2 hours 30 minutes.
This test assesses the practical skills needed to use the applications covered in Document Production, Data Manipulation and Presentations.
Paper 3 (Practical 80 marks) is 30% of the total marks, takes 2 hours 30 minutes.
This test assesses the practical skills Data Analysis and Website Authoring.
The combination of knowledge and skills in Cambridge IGCSE Information and Communication Technology gives learners a solid foundation for further studies as ICT expert work in research, Medicine, law, Accounting and a wide range of other careers.
