DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE
Physics is the study of how the world behaves and how the laws of nature operate; it is generally regarded as the most fundamental science subject. The subject looks at how things work and the principles and laws that predict their behaviour. This can range from the large scale of the Earth and the Universe to the small scale of the nucleus of an atom. If you enjoy taking things apart, have an inquisitive mind, and like to know what is going on, you will find this subject interesting.

recognise the usefulness (and limitations) of scientific method, and how to apply this to other disciplines and in everyday life
develop relevant attitudes, such as a concern for accuracy and precision, objectivity, integrity, enquiry, initiative and inventiveness
develop an interest in, and care for, the environment
better understand the influence and limitations placed on scientific study by society, economy, technology, ethics, the community and the environment
develop an understanding of the scientific skills essential for both further study and everyday life
All candidates take three papers.
Candidates who have studied the Core subject content, or who are expected to achieve a grade D or below, should be entered for Paper 1 (30% 40 marks), Paper 3 (50% 80 marks) and Paper 6 (20% 40 marks). These candidates will be eligible for grades C to G.

FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES POST-16 CAREER OPTIONS
Candidates who achieve grades A* to C are well prepared to follow a wide range of courses including Cambridge International AS & A Level Physics.
Cambridge IGCSEs are accepted and valued by leading universities and employers around the world as evidence of academic achievement. Many universities require a combination of Cambridge International AS & A Levels and Cambridge IGCSEs or equivalent to meet their entry requirements.
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics or Engineering Physics, students can pursue careers in research and development, science, engineering (aerospace engineering etc), medicine, law, business, and the military.
