DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE
The course develops an understanding of economic terminology, principles, and basic economic theory. Pupils learn about the economics of developed and developing nations and how these interrelate. They also learn to handle simple data; undertake analysis, evaluate information, and discriminate between facts and value judgments.

KEY KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
The aims of the course are to:
Develop candidates’ knowledge and understanding of economic terminology and principles, and elementary economic theory; basic economic numeracy and literacy and their ability to handle simple data including graphs and diagrams; use the tools of analysis in particular situations;
Show candidates how to identify and discriminate between differing sources of information, and use economic skills to imrove their understanding of the economies of developed and developing nations.
Enable candidates to participate more fully in decision making processes as both consumers and producers and as citizen of the local, national and international community.
Paper 1: Multiple Choice - 45 Minutes - 30% of total available marks.
Paper 2: Structured Questions - 2 hours 15 Minutes - 70% of total available marks.
Both papers are compulsory.
