Water is not only linked to all our activities, but it is also a fundamental part of climate change.
According to the WHO, a person uses an average of 100 liters of water a day to meet their needs; as the population increases, the need for water increases. Despite this need, it is a reality that access to water is not equitable for everyone.
In 2019, the WHO and UNICEF reported that 2.2 billion people did not have access to drinking water around the world, while by 2040 the Aquae Foundation projects that a water deficit of 70% will be reached, affecting regions of Australia, Peru and the Philippines among many others.
Did you know that unsafe water and poor sanitation are the main causes of infant mortality?
According to the UN, 1.5 million children under 5 years of age die annually in developing countries due to childhood diarrhea attributed to water scarcity, consumption of contaminated water, lack of hygiene and inadequate sanitation (latrines) .
For years, different organizations have highlighted the issue of water. In 2018, the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development" was decreed, which runs from 2018 to 2028 and highlights the human right to water, highlighting that the scarcity of this vital liquid can slow down the progress of humanity in the future.
What can we do to help?
Reduce your water footprint! The water footprint is the volume of water we use in our activities and daily consumption.
To reduce your footprint, make the following recommendations:
1. Make sure that both your shower and your toilet are low consumption
2. Take a quick shower, don't take more than 5 minutes to take a shower, when we take a shower a large amount of water is wasted
3.Turn off the taps when you are soaping, washing your hands or teeth, prevent water from being wasted
4.Use buckets or containers to wash vehicles or large items, using the hose wastes a lot of water
5.Performs rainwater harvesting; that is, collect rainwater and use it for different activities
6. Make sure there are no water leaks in pipes
7. If you are going to use the washing machine, do it efficiently, fill the entire load
