Human Rights Day

All human beings have a series of rights based on the dignity and integral development of people, that is why every year we commemorate Human Rights Day on December 10

Without distinction of nationality, religion, language, place of origin / residence, sex and / or any condition; we all have the same rights without discrimination. Human rights are contemplated in the laws of each country, as well as in international treaties. All having the obligation to respect and fulfill the human rights of each of the people.

Human rights are based on the following principles:

-They are inalienable.

This means that if we have a defendant for a crime, they can be deprived of their right to freedom, complying with the applicable law.

-They are equal and non-discriminatory.

We should all be treated in the same way, so there should be no discrimination.

-Rights include obligations.

Obligations are based on respect and protection.

-They are universal.

This principle goes hand in hand with equality and non-discrimination on focusing on the circumstances and needs of all people.

-They are interdependent.

It refers to the fact that all the principles are related to each other.

-They cannot be divided.

Each human being is a whole that cannot be divided, so it must be protected by authority.

-Progress.

Development is important, you should not go back if not, move forward.

What is different about the Human Rights approach in 2021?

The 2021 focus is on the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the need we have to rebuild, recover and improve. Taking as a standard that we will only achieve this if we all participate creating equality for all people.

The crisis caused by the pandemic has had a lot of discrimination, inequality and domestic violence, which implies us to reformulate our commitment to society; linking directly with the Paris Agreement, the 2030 Agenda and strategies to reduce cases of domestic violence around the world.

What can we do to contribute to the fulfillment of Human Rights?

1. Be a committed citizen, stay informed of what is happening around us, we cannot be strangers. Remember that as a society everything that happens affects us.
